2008 Game Day - JV BASEBALL
May 19 - JV HOME vs, Sheyboygan South: De Pere 6 Sheboygan South 5
The JV Baseball team finished the year in dramatic fashion with a 6-5 win over Sheboygan South. After
falling behind 5-0 early, the redbirds rallied back and ended up tying the game in the bottom of the 7th on
a past ball Jordan Lindner scored. Then with 1 out and the bases loaded, Tyler Lennon got a hit to deep
left field to drive in the winning run as the Redbirds went on to win 6-5 in the season finale. Jesse Hudson
went 4 and 2/3 innings striking out 8 and kept the redbirds in it. He ended with the win. Thanks for all
who supported us this season. Go Birds!
May 1 - JV HOME vs. Pulaski: De Pere 10 Pulaski 5
The redbirds bounced back against the Pulaski Red Raiders. After getting out to a quick start in the
bottom of the 1st, scoring seven runs, the Redbirds never looked back. Behind the strong pitching of
Freshman Zack Gavin, the Birds coasted through the remainder of the game, held back the Red Raiders
late rally, and ended up winning 10-5. The Redbirds finished the week with a 2-2 record after having 4
games in 3 days.
April 30 - JV @ Maniitowoc (DH) Game 1: Manitowoc 11 De Pere 6 Game 2: Manitowoc 12 De Pere 2
The JV baseball team lost two games to Manitowoc on Wednesday. In the first game, Jordan Lindner
picked up the loss with the final being 11-6. In game two, Nic Schadrie pitched 5 2/3 strong innings, but
picked up the loss as the Redbirds couldn't capitalize with runners in scoring position late. With the score
going into the sixth being 4-2, the Redbirds threatened to score but the ships calmed down the rally. In
the bottom of the sixth, the wheels fell off and the Redbirds gave up eight as a collage of pitchers failed to
quiet the bats of the ships. The final score was 12-2 in six innings.
April 29 - JV @ Green Bay West: De Pere 14 Green Bay West 13
The Redbirds JV Baseball team won a close conference game last night in dramatic fashion against the
Green Bay West Wildcats 14-13 in 8 innings. After falling behind 7 runs in the first inning, the Redbirds
battled back, forced the game into extra innings and won it in the bottom of the 8th. Sam Haskins pitched
5 strong innings only walking two and allowing 3 earned runs. Sam helped his cause with the bat going 2
for 3 and driving in 2 runs in the 3rd. Tyler Lennon went 5 for 6 and Casey Gloe contributed 4 hits to
keep the Redbirds hopes alive. Creighton Maricque came in for Haskins in relief and struck out 4 in two
innings only allowing one run to keep the game close. With the score tied up in the top of the 8th Tyler
Lennon ripped a two out double to score Casey Gloe and take the lead. Nic Schadrie came in to shut
down the Wildcats by striking out two in the bottom of the 8th to pick up the save.
April 22 - JV @ Notre Dame: Notre Dame 3 De Pere 2
The JV squad lost another close one to Notre Dame on Tuesday 3-2. A late inning rally by the Tritons
scored 3 and gave them the lead in the 5th and never looked back. After getting big lead off hits from Nic
Schadrie and Justin Rukamp in both the 6th and the 7th innings, the redbirds couldn't capitalize. Jordan
Lindner pitched 5 & 2/3 innings and only allowed 3 runs on 2 hits to keep the game close. Sam Haskins
pitched 1 & 1/3 scoreless innings to give the redbirds a shot at a win in the 6th and the 7th.
April 17 - JV @ Ashwaubenon: Ashwaubenon 7 De Pere 5
The Redbirds lost a close battle to the Jaguars on Thursday 7-5. After a quick start early with Andrew
Mulvey and Tyler Lennon scoring to give the Redbirds the lead, Jordan Lindner pitched very well through
5 innings. The defense of the Redbirds performed their best game of the year only giving up one error
and the bats and baserunning were all clicking for most of the game. Two past balls in the bottom of the
6th gave the Jaguars the lead, and the Redbirds failed to get anything going in the top of th 7th to
rebound.
April 15 - JV @ Green Bay Preble: Preble 10 De Pere 3
The JV Redbirds were unable to pull out their second conference victory of the year in losing to Green
Bay Preble for the second time in this short season 10-3. The Hornets got out to a quick start scoring 8
runs in the 1st inning off of a few costly early errors. From that point on the Redbirds contained Preble,
only allowing 2 more runs the rest of the game with consistent pitching from Logan Hendricks who went all
6 innings and only allowed 3 earned runs. The first redbird score came in the 4th inning off of a David
Henrigillis RBI single to right field. Tyler Lennon went 2 for 3 and helped with the three runs by scoring
one in the 4th.
April 14 - JV @ Sheboygan South: De Pere 14 Sheboygan South 6
The JV Baseball team slated their first conference win in the new conference with a 14-6 victory over
Sheboygan South. Nic Schadrie went 5 strong innings to get the win, while Jesse Hudson retired 6
straight batters to finish the job. The Redbirds got the bats going in the 6th inning after being down 6-5
and never looked back. Seven runs in the 6th and two insurance runs in the 7th helped insure victory
over the Redwings. Casey Gloe and Nic SChadrie each recorded multi-hit days while Tyler Lennon,
Andrew Mulvey, Brent Rukamp, and David Henrigillis picked up key hits to drive in runs. Overall it was a
great team victory!
