2008 Game Day - FRESHMAN BASEBALL
May 19 - Frosh @ Sheboygan North: De Pere 15 Sheboygan North 3
The Redbirds picked up their 6th win last night against Sheboygan North. Zach Gavin took the mound for
the Redbirds pitching a complete game allowing 2 earned runs while striking out 7, 6 of those strike outs
were looking!! Leading the offensive attack that scored 15 runs in 5 innings, were Alex DeCleene who was
3 for 4 and Chase Siebert who went 2 for 2. As a team they racked up 13 hits. The Redbirds won the game
in 5 innings 15 - 3.
May 10 - Frosh @ GB East (DH Game 1) De Pere 29 GB East 11
May 10 - Frosh @ GB East (DH Game 2) De Pere 6 GB East 1
The Freshmen baseball team came up with 2 wins against Green Bay East. The Redbirds put together a
hitting attack in game one, scoring an amazing 29 runs. The leading hitter for the Redbirds was Aaron
Strodthoff, who went 5 for 6 with a two run home run, a double, two singles, and a Grand Slam!!!! The
Redbirds ended the game with a total of 20 hits to win the game 29-11 In game two of the double header,
Matt Matzke took the mound for the first time this year. He allowed only 1 earned run while striking out 8!
The Redbirds picked up the second win on the day with a score of 6 -1. Adding hits in the second game for
De Pere were Alex DeCleene, Chase Siebert, Cody Leanna, and Andrew Fitzpatrick. The Freshmen
baseball team is now sitting at record of 5 wins and 7 losses.
April 14 - Frosh vs. Green Bay Preble: Green Bay Preble 11 De Pere 1
The Redbirds lost to a very good offensive team at Green Bay Preble. The Redbirds lost 11-1. Preble
ended the game with 15 hits to the Redbird's 3 hits. Adding those 3 hits for De Pere were Andrew
Fitzpatrick, Zach Bergeson, and Casey Korth. Adding sacrifice hits for the Redbirds were Clayton Radant
and Chase Siebert. Alex DeCleene and Jacob Greeneway pitched 3 innings a piece for DePere.
April 7 - Frosh HOME vs. Sheboygan South: Sheboygan South 7 De Pere 5
The freshmen baseball team opened up their season at a fridgid Redbird Field against Sheboygan South.
Unfortunately the Redbirds dropped their season opener. Pitching proved to be a strong point for the
Redbirds. Chase Siebert recorded the loss while striking out 4. Zach Gavin took the mound in relief and
struck out 6. Adding extra base hits for the Redbirds were Casey Korth, Ryan McVey, and Aaron Strodthoff.
The Redbirds rallied in the bottom of the 7th, adding 3 runs, but fell short of a victory, losing 7-5.
